Social Media and SEO
Social Media has now become a very important part of SEO. If you want to be on top of Google, you will have to have a Twitter account for your business, a Facebook business page, Google+ account and others. You will also have to post on these accounts every once in awhile. Most people say that this is a lot of work and they don’t have time to “tweet” on Twitter. We can definitely understand that, but the problem is that your direct competition on Google does these things and this puts them before you in the search results.
So how do you get started with social media?
Open a twitter account, but make the username your business name. Find similar businesses on Twitter and start “following” them. This will put you on the map and let others know your business exists. Start talking and networking on twitter with people who can bring you more business. It may seem pushy but guess what? your competition is already there.
You need to post tweets as often as possible to get the word out. View it as part of your job.
If you are on Facebook already, all you have to do is add a Facebook business page and write a few wall posts on that business page. Share it with your Facebook friends and get them to share it as well. You don’t have to write as much on facebook as you do on twitter, but just make sure to share your url because that’s what gets tracked. Write a wall post about your business and add your url at the bottom of the post. Pretty simple eh?
Do you really expect to get to the top of google if you don’t use google products? Get yourself a Google+ account and create a business page within it. Add everyone from your email list and jsut like Facebook, get them to share this info. Make sure to use your url in your posts, otherwise it doesn’t count for SEO.
Google owns You Tube so having a video about your products is always a plus and will show up in the top of Google search results. At this point you may be thinking it’s all a lot of work and honestly, it is a lot, but the gains you will have are well worth it. With You Tube you can do a video showing your store your portfolio, your past clients testimonials. Be creative!
Add your site/business to as many local classifieds pages as possible. These are all links to your site and important for both marketing and SEO.
